Board Critical of Bus Safety Oversight
Federal safety investigators criticized the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Monday for failing to enact tougher standards for the commercial bus industry. Citing a deadly 2008 rollover crash in Utah, The National Transportation Safety Board, the federal agency charged with investigating major transportation accidents, said the NHTSA has been to slow to implement longstanding safety recommendations for commercial buses.
