A spokesperson for the agency said that "investigators will examine the front-loading washer to determine if the design poses a safety risk." Homeowner Settles Underage Drinking Lawsuit

Conditions at a Georgia peanut plant blamed for a nationwide salmonella outbreak were only a small element of the unmasking of major problems in the food safety system, the New York Times reports. Investigations into the outbreak revealed major disconnects between government oversight and corporate accountability. The outbreak has killed eight people and sickened an estimated 19,000 more according to the newspaper. Pfizer joining other large drug makers in disclosing payments to doctors

"Pfizer Inc. said Monday that it will become the latest drug maker to publicly disclose the payments it makes to doctors, as the industry has come under fresh fire for its undue influence and could face toughened legislation. The New York drug maker follows Eli Lilly & Co., Merck & Co. and GlaxoSmithKline PLC in pledging its commitment to transparency. Pfizer will report all payments to doctors of more than $500 for consulting and speaking arrangements and will also make public the money it pays them to participate in its clinical trials." A bus carrying Chinese tourists overturned Friday, January 30th, near Hoover Dam, killing at least seven people and injuring at least nine, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman said. The accident happened at 4 p.m. on U.S. 93 at mile marker 27, about 27 miles south of Hoover Dam, said Lt. James Warriner.
